Review from a top player;

Having used a Stradivarius for many years I never thought this blade would be surpassed. Steve mentioned there was a new blade out in the XIOM range, the An Jea Yun TMXi. He said it had been made for the new Jekyll and Hyde rubber. I had this rubber on my forehand and Vega China on the backhand. I could immediately tell a huge difference, the all-out power of the Stradivarius was replaced with power, but with feel! I had used the Jekyll and Hyde on a Strad blade and found initially that the ball dipped quicker than I had been previously used to, the ball catching the top of the net more often than not. However, this changed with the new blade the trajectory was ‘normal’ and I didn’t feel I had to ‘lift’ the ball higher over the net. There was lots of control, yet power and using the softer sponge on the J & H plenty of spin. For topspin control was very good, with plenty of spin, and when blocking it was almost as easy as when I used to use genuine Haifu Whale III. There seemed to be a slightly bigger sweet spot when counter hitting as well with the J & H on this blade. The only time I felt I lost a little control was in pushing the ball, however I do not think this is insurmountable with practice.

As for the China on the backhand, I was worried that with more ‘feel’ in the blade and with this being a slightly ‘slower’ rubber I would struggle to keep the ball on the table at a good pace. No need to worry, there was more feel than on the Stradivarius blade, but the power was just as good. control was perfect, and I was able to get a little more spin with this blade and the China rubber than with my Stradivarius and the same rubber.

so, all in all if you are looking to step up to the next level i wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this combination to enable you to progress.

I used this with another player, who had the same combination of blade and rubbers, and who has not played for around 10 years. His comments were (and in the past week, he has tried a combination of blades and rubbers), that these were perfect, he was so happy with the feel, control and power and he is looking forward to getting back to the level he was once at.
